Virginia Phelps has been a member of BABA since 2011. Her interest in book arts arose from attending a Book Arts Jam in 2010. After taking a number of art, print, and photography classes at Foothill College, book arts became the culmination, incorporating all these various art forms together. Virginia has always had a strong interest in structure and mechanics and book arts provided the perfect outlet for these creative energies. Many of her books incorporate unusual and sometimes complex bindings and interactive elements. It is often a structure or binding method that inspires the content and concept of her work. Her visual inspirations are primarily derived from nature.
