Bio

I guess it is no surprise that I describe myself as an experimental artist when one sees the range of my professional work life to date. My work life has taken a similar experimental path. Following college I have been a med lab technician, Director of a National Girls Club, Director of two different NYS Div for Youth programs which I designed and developed, my own art/craft business-"Traditions", teaching needlework arts in VA, a stint with US Navy at Oceana in VA to develop training manuals for educators, followed by 3 framing and designing positions including my current position at Peabody Fine Art Gallery. All of this work experience has produced a plethora of insights, images, and inspiration for my art.

Artist's Statement

As a left-handed Aries I celebrate a life-long love of art of all types and mediums. Being a child in a right-handed world I learned to ‘teach ’ myself the skills and techniques of the arts and crafts lovingly created by the women in my family – an amazing legacy. As a self-taught artist I soon found joy in exploring and experimenting creating my own style. As an avid reader and learner I have eagerly sought out inspiration and ideas from others and adapted them to my way of doing things. Years spent as a Gallery Director, surrounded by art, has enriched my quest to create. I must have an endless reservoir of images and ideas in my head as I create spontaneously, intuitively, and, as my daughter likes to say, the art just “sparks off her fingertips”/
